Extension of three classes for Lafweyne primary School
Lafweyne is a village located 114 km North of Lasanod. pastoralism is the main livelihood activity practiced with camels and Shoats being the main livestock kept. It’s the home of approximately 250-350 Households. The poor infrastructure and limiting of other basic social services are challenges that remained this community. This community receives main support from their diaspora community who supported community funding projects and families livelihoods for while.
according to the increasing number of enrolling students and limited premise of the primary school which is consisting of only two class room primary school and more than 100 students who take turns to fit the two class rooms. In the priorities of CAAPs identified, the community selected to extend three new classes of primary school which ADRA supported 50% of project cost. And other 50% was planned to be raised by community. Therefore, the VDC of the village takes the lead and mobilized their communities included business community, government and diaspora through Bulshokaab online platform and fundraising event and campaigns on social media facilitated by Shaqodoon. Fortunately, all 50% required from community raised and collected by diaspora members.
In order to keep the transparence and accountability the Bulshokaab online platform is also connected with community bank account to track the transactions of contribution that individuals voluntarily deposit to the project account. The signatories are three members of the VDC of project account who are Chairman, Secretary and Accountant.
