CONSTRUCTION OF MUSHAXLEED- CIRBIYE ROAD

Mushaxaleed was established in 1960 by group of farmers settled a highland place with fertile soil and Natural water fall near Calmadow mountains. It is located 5km km from Xabaasha wacle village and from 45km from Badhan district of Sanaag region. With a population of 130HHS, its economy depends on Agricultural farms, livestock rearing and small businesses activities like shops, stores and cafes. The livelihood of villagers depends on agricultural farms, livestock and small scale shops and tea cafes. This small agricultural hub with large fertile soil necessary for planting of food and cash crop farming, however the opportunity, the village residents were affected floods blocked the road of Mushaxaleed. The rehabilitation of 585 m road will be major relief for the residents of Mashxaleed and Cirbiye villages and the community in Lasqoray District. This is the main road linking Badhan and Lasqoray and in between villages. The impact of the covid-19 also affected the residents of Mushaxaleed and surrounding villages as the selling price of their livestock products and farms productions goes down. The community benefited number of Care implemented Restore project including construction of the guest house, distribution of seeds, distribution of cash for work for households. They also established Village saving and loan associations and provided number of impacted training to village committees. The people in Mushaxaleed were highly appreciating the assistance they received from Care and SomRep Restore project. Despite the mentioned care supported projects the people in the village lacks health post, school, police station which is necessary for the development and stability of the environment. The village residents constructed irrigation canal that supplies water to agricultural through community contributions. Due to the impact of the floods the production of crops were very low. Most of the farmers were not harvesting during this season and this discouraged them to plant this season except few trying to overcome that challenge but needs to support rehabilitation of the road to Mushaxaleed. The road is currently characterized by deep gullies and potholes and requires an off road vehicle to navigate. Travelling to Mushaxaleed and Lasqoray from Badhan by bus takes about five hours and during rainy seasons the journey can take up to eight hours as roads become impassable with buses and trucks carrying relief food getting stuck. Rehabilitation of the road will be a major boost to the region. Mushaxaleed community has requested support for the side challenges which were facing the past couple of years. The rehabilitation is expected to lower transport time by two hour and lessen travel costs from Badhan to Mushaxaleed. Rehabilitation of the road also envisages more development projects to come up in the area as a result of the access route. The community has started rehabilitating the feeder rood. Mushaxaleed residents expressed optimism that a devolution takes root. The road is currently characterized by deep gullies and potholes and requires an off road vehicle to navigate.
